I drove my sister-in-law for her radiation treatment last week. As we were making our way up to the Dana Farber Oncology and Radiation clinic, she remarked on the number of white cars on the road. She’s always been fascinated by that. Once she mentioned it, it was hard not to notice every time we passed a white car. At one point, we saw four in a row in the oncoming traffic.

My sister-in-law knows that I have been writing a romance novel. She doesn’t read much, but she enjoys hearing about the characters and the plot lines. Anyway, I told her that I would write the white cars into my story. Here’s an excerpt..
Tony turned to look when Lena pointed out the frequency of white cars on the highway, Her dad used to play this game with her, she reminisced. After she shared this memory with him, Tony couldn’t help but notice white cars each time he encountered one on the road. He found they often traveled in packs.—usually two or three at a time. In that moment, he realized he would think of her whenever he saw a white car—they would be forever linked in his memory..
My goal as an author is to write with an authentic voice. It’s the little details of everyday life, I think, that make a difference. Let me know what you think.
Thanks for tuning in.
Best wishes,
Margaret
